Fire Exit and Emergency Lights
Firewatch also provides maintenance services for exit & emergency lighting systems. In accordance with Australian Standards 2293.2 emergency lighting systems shall be to be periodically tested by conducting a 90 minute battery (discharge) test. This test certifies that all the exit & emergency lights are functional and batteries sustain their charge for 90 minutes during a power black out or building fire.

Many dangerous situations can be avoided by ensuring your exit lighting systems are functioning in order to provide an easy escape route in the event of an emergency.

Firewatch conducts 6 monthly and yearly testing to ensure your compliance with Australian Standard 2293:1995.
Firewatch Exit and Emergency Lighting 6 Monthly Testing Procedures
- Ensure there have been no power interruptions for 16hrs prior to test.
- Check fluorescent lights for blackened ends. If blackened ends are found, both tube and starter are replaced.
- Manual discharge test (simulated power failure). Exit or Emergency light must stay illuminated for no less then 90 minutes.
- Restore Exit or Emergency light to normal condition and check the battery charger operation indicator functions correctly.
- Automatic discharge test. Visual check unit operates correctly by the means of the indicator at each unit or indicator panels.
- Units that FAIL shall be replaced or repaired.
- For indirect lighting systems, check all reflective surfaces around the Exit or Emergency light are in good condition and that beam lights do not shine in people's eyes.
- Record all test results and action taken.
